Greenwich Council for Racial Equality
"We work for a just and integrated society, where diversity is valued. We use both persuasion and our powers under the law to give everyone an equal chance to live free from fear, discrimination, prejudice and racism."
Commission for Racial Equality Mission Statement
GCRE was established in 1968 under the then Race Relations Board. In 1976, following the passing of the Race Relations Act, GCRE was formally constituted by the newly formed Commission for Racial Equality.
We have 13 staff of diverse heritage directly employed, but also work with a number of Community Volunteers and Consultants who have a wide range of expertise and languages. Our diverse membership, Volunteers and Consultants together represent about 44 different community groups and helps ensure we are able to work within all communities, drawing on the relevant skills and expertise required.
Drawing on the relevant skills and expertise required, we have also been awarded the ‘Quality Mark’ by the Legal Services Commission.
Our organisation is registered under the Charities Act 1993 and has charitable status.
Audited accounts are available for inspection on request.
